Two knitophiles and the new magknits

2 August 2006

Tiphanie: Oh gawd. Just finally had a look at the latest issue of Magknits. And Chance is one fugly pair. Looks like someone shoveled their hands in someone’s stomach and came out with half-digested Italian dinner smeared on their hands.

Tiphanie: Ugly ugly shit. I was like, WHAT THE FUCK??? ARE THEY TRYING TO DRIVE AWAY NEW KNITTERS?

Frarochvia: Yeah really. Blergh.

Frarochvia: The hat was cute but she could have done seamless. There is no reason to not do a seamless hat.

Tiphanie: Ugh. The hat looks horrible. Sorry. It’s not cute to me and I don’t like the bottom. It looks like it was bound off too tightly. I can see this model thinking, shit, this BO stitches are pressing down hard on my forehead. I just know that when I take it off, I’m gonna have one red line running across my forehead.

Frarochvia: Haha. Yeah. It would have been better done a different way. I don’t get the seaming.

Frarochvia: You’re right. The hat just looks like it’s too tight.

Tiphanie: Okay. Cherie was funny. I wouldn’t mind a hot water bottle but come on, I want Sven or a manly name.

Frarochvia: Cherie is cute but I don’t need the decoration.

Tiphanie: Yeah. Just knit the damn bag and if I really want a water bottle, I would knit a tube instead and stick a tail, maybe cat’s ears and whiskers. Call it my catwarmer. I need to come up with a better name.

Frarochvia: The purse is awful.

Tiphanie: I wouldn’t make it period and it looks like a piece of turd. Why didn’t she just use the poor yarn as a scarf or better yet, send it to me. I will treat it better than she did.

Tiphanie: This purse is ugly. No one would even want to mug someone carrying this funky bag. That is the only reason I would consider knitting this. This is one funky anti-mugging purse.

Frarochvia: Bwahahahahahah

Tiphanie: and where’s the stupid cable? I can’t even see any cables.

Tiphanie: Seriously, if they want to make me knit something, they need to get more designs that would entice ME, of all people who are ANTI-craft to knit this.

Frarochvia: Yeah. It’s bad.

Tiphanie: Disappointing issue. I liked the zine and I loved some of their designs. But too many questionable designs.

Frarochvia: This issue is terrible.

Tiphanie: Flower Corsages cute and the kid’s even cuter. I want to adopt her and good thing is that she looks happy. Not one of those kids with a bribed look onher. She looks happy because she knows she’s one darn cute babe with flowers. I would even knit flowers.

Frarochvia: Apparently the goal was to just focus on single skeins of handspun.

Tiphanie: Blech. Then they should have knitted a better pair of fingerless gloves. Not with damn tentacles.

Frarochvia: Back to normal next month thank g-d.

Tiphanie: If they actually wanted tentacles they should have used them as trimming. Maybe one inch tops on the gloves, not all over the damn gloves.

Frarochvia: I agree. At the cuff.

Tiphanie: Something. Yeah. Cuff, whatever.

Tiphanie: Baby Socks. Cute. No dinging words. Would I knit them? Yes- but no babies to knit for so that’s moot.

Tiphanie: I will not knit anything from that issue. Maybe flower corsages if I have any handspun yarn just waiting to be used.

Frarochvia: No, me neither. I think they donated the worst possible yarns.

Tiphanie: and the antimugging purse still ugly.

Frarochvia: I think I prefer crocheted or i-cord flowers. I-cord flowers are easy and fun. Anti-mugging purse fricking ugly.

Tiphanie: I can think of many better examples of using handspun yarn. A tiny purse with a long strap that will hold one cell phone and a wallet when you just don’t want a big purse. A car pillow. A car blanket. Pads for the steering wheel. Sunglasses case. A long hot water bottle. Pretty knitted vase. Maybe buy a cheap vase and put it inside the knitted vase.

Frarochvia: A pillowsachet.

Tiphanie: Cute pillow for your sofa or even for your bed. Knitted photo frame. Knit one and then glue it on the photo frame.

Frarochvia: A kitty collar.

Tiphanie: A knitted photograph album cover. See? A pair of fingerless gloves would be fine but why couldn’t they have picked out something tentacles- less? A pair of legwarmers.

Frarochvia: Why couldn’t they have picked out a better hat?

Tiphanie: See? I came up with at least 10 ideas that will entice me to knit something different with pretty handspun yarn.

Tiphanie: headband!

Frarochiva: I like the frame idea.

Tiphanie: Dickie. I wouldn’t mind a dickie if I ever move to Alaska.

Frarochvia: I would but that’s me. Haha.

Tiphanie: And I would even think about knitting a cover for my French press. A teapot cozy. Placemats.

Frarochvia: You are brilliant.

  1. I totally agree with you guys. I cannot stand anything in Magknits this month. Just awful stuff!

  2. *blush* I need to wash out my potty mouth. In my defense, all I’m gonna say is that I was too appalled by the latest issue.

  3. Hee hee. Not pulling any punches!

I really like this new theme - very elegant.

  4. Ok, I liked the previous simple blackish header. Interesting one right now - dice?

  5. Hope you like the newest version of the header… Glad you like the new theme… been working with Fairy on themes, etc. :)

  6. Heehee. It does look like barf.

  7. The armwarmers were made out of the yarn I was asked to make them out of and if you’d read the pattern you’d see that they could be made out of any yarn.

I (and several others) happen to find wearing what looks like muppet guts on the arms quite entertaining, although obviously not for every day.

Just because it’s not to your taste doesn’t make it bad. Takes all kinds to make up the world and it’d be pretty boring if we all liked the same things.

Still, was interesting to read your comments. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I have a number of previous MagKnits patterns bookmarked, but this issue? Very bleh. Oh well, can’t like everything I suppose.

  9. I LOVE this new format, the style sheet is VERY sleek. It’s so YOU.
And this post is toooooo funny, they way you both go on and on and on.
