Tiphanie: let s visit the latest issue of Magknits
Frarochvia: Okay
Tiphanie: Hm. Honorine s pretty- but can you see the bra? In the front?
Tiphanie: I would knit it, maybe with 3/4 sleeves
Frarochvia: And I don’t like Honorine because of the bra issue
Tiphanie: yeah. I was wondering about the bra issues. It’s cute but I was thinking about bra issues.
Frarochvia: It -is- pretty. But limited usage
Tiphanie: I guess that we’ll have to knit it and find out: but it doesn’t seem to be designed for uh busty gals?
Frarochvia: Nope. So I wouldn’t knit it
Frarochvia: It’d look like a sack on me…. Not the designer’s fault
Tiphanie: but what if you knit this in soft yarn and use it as pajama top? it would be a
Frarochvia: The lace again….
Tiphanie: yeah-
Tiphanie: I suppose that you could insert some short rows in the front. I can see the potentials and it’s lovely
Frarochvia: I just wouldn’t. This is a sweater I want to like, not a sweater I like, if that makes sense
Tiphanie: Lombardo Street socks. Looks like a pair of very thick puffy socks. Interesting- cables and eyelets
Frarochvia: Maybe it’s clearer on a computer but I guess I have reservations about a sock with both cables and lace. I do like the texture
Tiphanie: the designer warns that a gauge must be knitted first before starting
Tiphanie: I would like to knit this but um- I’m too lazy to knit a gauge for socks.
Frarochvia: Pretty much my thought and not easy to convert to toe up
Tiphanie: you could probably do this toe up but the patterns would look different I.e. the eyelets would slant down instead of up.
Frarochvia: Right
Tiphanie: I don t mind if it looks different but it looks easy to do
Tiphanie: just make sure that the toe fit and then add more stitches to the bottom
Frarochvia: I wouldn’t either. But the swatching, eeeee
Frarochvia: Anyway you haven’t done cables yet
Tiphanie: true
Frarochvia: Me either
Tiphanie: but I may not knit this-
Frarochvia: So pretty but maybe in a couple years. And do it on something other than tiny yarn.
Tiphanie: yeah
Tiphanie: maybe after we work up our nerves to do cables, hee.
Tiphanie: snowflake lace socks are pretty
Frarochvia: I really liked the snowflake lace
Tiphanie: yeah me too
Tiphanie: pretty pretty
Tiphanie: I would even do this cuff down
Frarochvia: Not too hard to convert to toe-up
Tiphanie: yeah?
Tiphanie: I haven t read the directions yet
Frarochvia: Definitely like the allover aspect of it
Tiphanie: yeah. It looks doable and it’s cute. I will need to remember this pattern if I ever purchase any white sock yarns. I think it would look real cute if I knit this in lilac.
Frarochvia: I was thinking that about white yarn too
Frarochvia: Definitely very cute. I have a Cherry Tree Hill pink I could do this with.
Tiphanie: adding to our lust list…sigh
Tiphanie: Delft
Frarochvia: Delft, not a fan of
Tiphanie: I don t know but when I first saw this. I thought it looked like something that a senior citizen would wear while playing golf you know? It’s nice and I like the v neck
Frarochvia: Yeah
Tiphanie: but it’s not something that I would knit
Frarochvia: A bit frumpy
Tiphanie: I don t know. It looks like uh something you would buy from JcPenny’s
Frarochvia: Yeah
Frarochvia: Just too frumpy for me
Frarochvia: The design is fine, just not appealing
Tiphanie: I like the leaf design but I was thinking- why not do the design on the sleeves too and maybe around the neck?
Tiphanie: I like the concept- but I would probably do a different motif. I suppose that if I want to, I could do this in maybe hot pink sweater but increase the sleeve lengths to 3/4 or to wrists and then do motifs around the wrists
Frarochvia: That’s a cute idea I like that
Tiphanie: is it me but is the v neck too thick? It looks like…: an I-cord collar?
Frarochvia: It’s not a flat v-neck
Tiphanie: maybe that s what bothers me?
Frarochvia: Double faced
Tiphanie: I like the concept but I would do it differently. Hot pink sweater with motifs on the bottom and around the wrists. Different v-neck. Flat v-neck.
Frarochvia: I like the notion of a low v-neck with a white tank top under with the 3/4
Tiphanie: Yeah. I would do motifs, if the sweater is hot pink, and then motifs would be in three colors- dark pink, purple and white.
Tiphanie: that is if- it’s hot pink
Frarochvia: Black and white
Tiphanie: apple s cute
Frarochvia: I thought that. The doll was creepy tho
Tiphanie: I like the idea of
Tiphanie: hehehe
Frarochvia: But definitely very cute
Tiphanie: never saw a real baby with apple green eyes
Tiphanie: it’s not a cabbage patch doll is it?
Frarochvia: No
Tiphanie: well, at least it’s not Chucky of Child’s Play.
Frarochvia: It’s Creepy Doll
Tiphanie: anyway….
Tiphanie: well, some dolls are creepy
Tiphanie: have you seen Bratz dolls?
Tiphanie: and latest Barbies?
Frarochvia: Skanky, not creepy
Tiphanie: okay, skanky
Tiphanie: I like basketweave pattern on this bag and I like how I can work in my choice of pattern-
Frarochvia: Yeah, I do like that too
Tiphanie: I’ll need to remember this baby bag pattern. It’s cute and it looks pretty simple too. A shame that they didn’t use a live model for this. The doll is creepy.
Frarochvia: Creepy
Tiphanie: I m not sure about inner truth cashmere scarf
Tiphanie: it looks uh. How big is this?
Tiphanie: I like cables but I m not crazy about one single cable with seed stitch.
Frarochvia: I like it but not to knit, and I think it’s too narrow
Tiphanie: that s what I was wondering – is it a long and narrow scarf?
Frarochvia: A bag strap?
Tiphanie: I guess that I would like this better if it got two cables or something
Tiphanie: I like the color. Cashmere s pretty
Tiphanie: I suppose that if you re making a bag strap or a belt, it would be okay but a scarf?
Tiphanie: do you see that pin?
Frarochvia: I like this as a strap. The yarn is gorgeous.
Frarochvia: Just now noticed that
Tiphanie: it looks like a copper pin with green glass bead and a purple bead?
Frarochvia: No clue… Weird
Tiphanie: what’s that for? Did she forget her stitch marker? Anyway. I love the yarn but it looks too narrow for me as I don’t know the scale. It’s 5’ wide.
Frarochvia: The yarn I’m really tempted by. It’s too narrow and isn’t reversible.
Tiphanie: What does the ends look like? It’s a shame as they didn’t photograph the whole scarf so I would have gotten a sense of how it would look like.
Frarochvia: 5’ is a bit smaller than Benkei and Lola. I know! I don’t understand why we can’t see the ends.
Tiphanie: They should have draped it around a model or something.
Frarochvia: Or see it worn. We have no sense of scale. Just seems like it was a swatch. Which bugs me kinda.
Tiphanie: yeah. Agreed.
Tiphanie: Snicket socks-
Tiphanie: it looks very thick and warm and I love the top of the socks
Frarochvia: I liked the texture of the Snicket socks a lot
Frarochvia: The only issue I have is the difficulty of the pattern but that’s me, not the designer’s problem. I like this a lot. Not sure if I’d knit it but it does look great
Tiphanie: grin
Tiphanie: the Edward. It’s a sexy top. It even got short row shaping.
Frarochvia: I liked it. Definitely liked the side ribbing too
Tiphanie: it s perfect for busty gals who wants the waist to be nipped. It’s delicious.
Frarochvia: Designed for people with chests. I’d knit this
Frarochvia: Agreed. This may be the best tank I’ve seen in a while
Tiphanie: Oh you’re right. This ribbing is great
Frarochvia: Not waist squeezing but defining, with an appropriately done chest
Tiphanie: yeah
Frarochvia: Definitely unique. Of all the designs this issue this is the one for me
Tiphanie: on me- it would look like I have a waist!
Frarochvia: Yes
Tiphanie: I would knit twenty of them
Frarochvia: Perfect for me too
Tiphanie: I love this shade
Tiphanie: it’s color- red? It looks like cherry red something
Frarochvia: Only issue is the yarn but we can figure that one out together
[For the next hour, Tiphanie and Frarochvia looked at various yarns, discussed which yarns/colors they would purchase, and lusted after the Edward even more. Sadly, both of them used the word, “lust” more than thirty times when referring to the Edward top. They acknowledge that they need to get a life. ]
Frarochvia: And this would flatter us more than anything in big girl knits
Tiphanie: because sometime I look at the patterns and think, “I love this but will it fit my boobs? And will it sag on me?” Sucks. Will it skim my upper body well or hide my waist?
Frarochvia: Or I think, fit my chest, ok, but what about the rest?
Tiphanie: anyway it’s a winner
Tiphanie: and I predict a KAL for the Edward top.
Tiphanie: last design- Seaside!
Tiphanie: I love it. It’s ASL friendly
Frarochvia: I do too, EXCEPT the beads
Tiphanie: Easy to omit!
Frarochvia: The beads are annoying. But this is nice yes
Tiphanie: I love fingerless mitts but I would like something more glove-like
Frarochvia: But personally, I was tempted by this, but liked fetching more I think, not sure.
Frarochvia: Of course I could knit one of each
Tiphanie: why not try both? Nothing wrong with that
Tiphanie: clever
Tiphanie: ah
Tiphanie: the pattern is seaweed. It does look much better with wool than with bamboo. Remember my seaweed fiasco?
Frarochvia: Yeah I saw that and thought of you
Frarochvia: I like seaweed in this fine
Frarochvia: I could see knitting this and having a matching beret
Tiphanie: I want this
Frarochvia: I like the socks but the clear winners for me are seaside and Edward
