Have any of you read the The Best of Vogue Knitting? In there is an article by Elizabeth Zimmermann, who talks about making a garter stitch möibus neckwarmer, by just knitting up a rectangle, grafting the two ends together, and adding applied i-cord edging all the way around its edge.
Garter stitch! Sign me up.
I had a skein of Meunch Naturwolle, a handspun yarn that’s basically YUMMILICIOUS, sitting around in my stash. I think that this was a good use of the yarn. Especially in garter stitch. See?
Now I just need to figure out how to graft without it looking like crap (Tiphanie tried to talk me through it lefthanded and backwards the other day, and the failure to succeed in doing so was entirely my fault. So was the grumpyfit. All me. She was the bastion of patience. I…. well. Well, put it this way. I’m begging you for tips. Or tutorials. Or links. Anything that helped you. Please.) and to apply the cord… but so far? I love it!
And I admit it. It brings me closer to cooler weather, if only for a moment, to make these things. But please, people, modeling them?! Yesterday it was 98 degrees F with 50 billion percent humidity. Have mercy on me! I’m crazy, I know, to knit them, but I’m not unhinged enough to actually wear them. Not yet. Ask me again when it’s 100 degrees cooler.
