struggle

12 March 2008

I swear, not every impulse should be followed up on. As a knitter, you understand this. And yet, sometimes you just won’t give up, even when you make mistake after mistake after mistake. Fess up. You’re like that sometimes too, aren’t you? Especially when the design “should” be simple and clear… and yet, you find yourself frogging and restarting and frogging and restarting.

Sort of like this:

Love it. Love the yarn very much – sportweight claudia handpainted in peppermint mocha.

Conquered it? Not yet. And yes, I feel silly for being defeated by this simple pattern.

*shakes fist* Anastasia, you will not win!

(Are you keeping track? That’s three single socks. So far.)

  1. Yup, pretty much the story of my sock knitting…

  2. The pattern is giving you grief??

  3. Stubborn? Me? I’m sure I couldn’t possibly relate to this. :o )

  4. Hey! Welcome back to the world! I was concerned the boys had taken you hostage! Hope you are feeling all better!!

  5. But Anastasia is so cute. No wonder.

I’m liking Jaden, Yosemite and the Brighton bag in the new Knitty.

    And don’t socks come singly?

  6. Yes. Koolhaas.
That was MINE. But wow, once I overcame? I LOVE IT!
    Hang in there…
    (((hugs)))

  7. Ohhh…those Anastasia socks! They almost made me give up sock knitting. Those eyelets were like little diagonal tourniquets on my foot. In the end though, it was that pattern that was responsible for forcing me to figure out exactly how to knit a sock that would fit my foot. Pretty, pretty yarn, though!
